Winchester, VA (September 17, 2018) — The Board of Directors of the Shenandoah Arts Council is pleased to announce the hiring of Christy Broy for the newly-created position of Member Liaison and Program Director. Broy will begin the position in mid-September, handling member relations, communications, and development.
Board President Anita Shull said the decision to create a member-focused staff position was driven by the organization’s desire to remain dedicated to supporting artists in the community.
“Christy has a strong background in the arts,” Shull said. “We’re excited to have someone with her knowledge and expertise on our staff, working to promote and encourage our members.”
Broy has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, with a major in art history and minors in studio art, anthropology, and religious studies. Her career has included work at galleries as well as in management and education positions, along with a personal history as an artist, designing and curating exhibits.
“I’ve been active in the local art world for years and have working relationships with many area artists. My hope is to create and foster more of these connections and sustain a functioning network of artists,” said Broy.
Founded in 1978, the Shenandoah Arts Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts and expanding arts awareness in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region. More information is available at www.www.shenarts.org.
