Winchester, VA (October 16, 2017) – The Board of Directors of the Shenandoah Arts Council announces the hiring of Ann Campbell Jarboe for the position of Arts Administrator, beginning mid-October. The newly created role of Arts Administrator will replace the position of Executive Director at ShenArts, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts and expanding arts awareness in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region.ShenArts_Ann Jarboe_Print

Board President Anita Shull said the decision to create a new leadership position at ShenArts was driven by the organization’s desire to remain dedicated to supporting artists in the community. “We want to stay current and adapt to make sure we are centered on being a resource for artists,” said Shull.

“Our goal was to find someone with a broad-ranging skill set and training in arts administration,” Shull continued. “We are excited to have Ann come on board with us, and we’re looking forward to great things ahead.”

A Winchester native and John Handley High School graduate, Jarboe earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a master’s degree in arts administration from Shenandoah University. She began her career as a reporter at The Winchester Star before working at Shenandoah University in public and media relations for a decade.

Jarboe has also worked for Winchester Public Schools as an English teacher at Daniel Morgan Middle School, and most recently, in guest services at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. She also currently serves as a co-chairperson of the publicity and promotions committee for the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®.

“I’m honored to be given this opportunity to showcase the talents of area artists in the town I love,” Jarboe said. “ShenArts has a rich history in our community, and I’m eager to build upon this reputation as we continue to grow in the future.”

A transition period is being planned under the guidance of the board of directors, which will ensure future ShenArts programs and upcoming exhibits flow seamlessly.
