Rooted: Where Origins Meet Imagination

What keeps you grounded? What landscapes have shaped your journey? Rooted invites artists to explore the deep connections between nature, place, and memory. From the twisting limbs of ancient trees to the layered histories embedded in the land, this exhibition will celebrate the strength, beauty, and resilience found in our roots—both literal and metaphorical.
We’re seeking work that honors the natural world, reflects on heritage and history, and reveals the ties that bind us to the earth and each other. All mediums welcome—from painting and sculpture to photography, fiber, and digital art.
Whether you find inspiration in the forests of your childhood, the stories passed down through generations, or the changing contours of the landscape around you, we want to see how your roots inform your art.

Submission Guidelines:

All mediums are accepted
Artwork must be ready to hang with D-rings only.
NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS OR EYEHOOKS. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT ACCEPT ARTWORK UPON ARRIVAL.
SUBMITTING PHOTOS:

All photos must be cropped and labeled in the following format:
****(example: Van Gogh_Starry Night_oil painting)***
If they are not cropped, well lit and labeled properly, they will be disqualified.
Important Deadlines:

Entry Deadline: July 28, 2025
Notification of acceptance: August 4,2025

Art Drop Off: September 9 and September 10, 1-3 pm
Art Pick Up: October 28 and October 29, 1-3 pm
Exhibition Date: September 13- October 25, 2025

If art is not picked up on the provided dates, you can pickup it up in Martinsburg, WV at a cost of $5/day for up to 7 days. After 7 days, all artwork becomes immediate property of ShenArts.
